7 October 2018: In an effort to get more people involved in woodturning, Creative Turning became involved in the training of artists in Mfuze at the South Luanga National Park in Zambia. The picture shows them working on the Creative Turning CT175VS1 lathe.
7 October 2018: Unfortunately I was not able to demonstrate at the AWSA Symposium as I had a retina detachment which required an emergency operation at on the morning of my demonstration but I was fortunate that two of my entries was awarded "Best on show" and "Second place in best on show"

Carel van der Merwe is a woodturner that creates unique pieces by exploring and enhancing the natural beauty of wood by means of texturing, burning and colouring.
